DEMR-1005: Basic Electrical Systems

Basic principles of electrical systems of diesel-powered equipment with emphasis on starters, alternators, and batteries. This course is occupationally related and prepares for a Diesel Service and Repair career. Alphanumeric coding used throughout this module book denotes the integration of SCANS occupational competencies (C1, etc.) and Foundation skills (F1, etc.)

DEMR-1006: Diesel Engine I

An introduction to the basic principles of diesel engines and systems. This course provides the student with advanced concepts and skills required for tune-up and troubleshooting procedures of diesel engines. Emphasis on the science of diagnosis with a common-sense approach. This course is occupationally related and prepares for a Diesel Service and Repair career. DEMR-1010: Diesel Engine Testing and Repair I

An introduction to testing and repairing diesel engines, including related systems and specialized tools. This course provides the student with advanced concepts and skills required for tune-up and troubleshooting procedures of diesel engines. Emphasis on the science of diagnosis with a common-sense approach. This course is occupationally related and serves as a preparation for a career in the Diesel Service and Repair field. DEMR-1016: Basic Hydraulics

Fundamentals of hydraulics including components and related systems. This course is occupationally related and prepares a career in the Diesel Service and Repair field. DEMR-1030: Steering and Suspension I

A study of design, function, maintenance and repair of steering and suspension systems. Emphasis on troubleshooting and repair of failed components. This course is occupationally related and prepares for a Diesel Service and Repair career. DEMR-1330: Steering and Suspension I

A study of design, function, maintenance, and repair of steering and suspension systems. Emphasis on troubleshooting and repair of failed components.

DEMR-1417: Basic Brake Systems

Credit Hours 4
Basic principles of brake systems of diesel powered equipment. Emphasis on maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.

DEMR-1447: Power Train II

Credit Hours 4
Continuation of fundamentals and theory of power train systems. Emphasis on disassembly, inspection, and repair of power train components.

DEMR-1449: Diesel Engine II

Credit Hours 4
An in-depth coverage of disassembly, repair, identification, evaluation, and reassembly of diesel engines.
