ITSY-1342: Information Technology Security

Instruction in security for network hardware, software, and data, including physical security; backup procedures; relevant tools; encryption; and protection from viruses.

Prerequisites: 3 hours of Network coursework (ITNW) with a minimum grade of "C" or concurrent enrollment.

ITSY-2301: Firewalls and Network Security Design

Credit Hours 3

Identify elements of secure network design that may include segmentation, Firewall implementation or a combination thereof to mitigate various types of security threats and attacks. Use Best Practices to design, implement, monitor, and manage a network security plan. Examine security incident postmortem reporting and ongoing network security activities.

Prerequisites: ITNW-1325, ITSC-1316 with a minimum grade of "C" or concurrent enrollment.

Corequisites: ITNW-1325, ITSC-1316 with a minimum grade of "C" or concurrent enrollment.

ITSY-2345: Network Defense and Countermeasures

Credit Hours 3

This is a practical application and comprehensive course that includes the planning, design, and construction of defenses for a complex network that will sustain an attack, document events, and mitigate the effects of the attack.

Prerequisites: ITSY-2301 with a minimum grade of "C".

ITSY-2359: Security Assessment and Auditing

Credit Hours 3

Comprehensive experience for the security curriculum. Synthesizes technical material covered in prior courses to monitor, audit, analyze, and revise computer and network security systems that ensure industry specific levels of protection are in place to assure regulatory compliance.

Prerequisites: 12 Computer Science credit hours with a minimum grade of "C" or department approval.

ITSY-2386: Internship - Computer and Information Systems Security

Credit Hours 3

A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and the employer.

Prerequisites: 30 Computer Science credit hours with a minimum grade of "C" or department approval.
