- Students must be registered with the DSS office, complete required student intake process/eforms and provide disability documentation as required by DSS – see DSS intake process instructions.
- Students must make a formal request in writing to the DSS Coordinator at least two weeks prior to the start of the semester to allow DSS time to review this request. Late requests or requests made after the start of the semester will be considered for the following semester.
- It is the student's responsibility to demonstrate they would be denied equal access without a reduced course load. Students requesting this accommodation are required to provide DSS with comprehensive and supportive documentation that must contain a full explanation for the need to take a reduced course load, as well as containing a specific diagnosis of the condition. The documentation must establish a nexus between the requested accommodation and the current impact of the student’s disability, detailed narrative about the student’s functional limitations and how they substantially impact their ability to take a full course load. The documentation must be on letterhead and completed by a qualified professional with expertise in the corresponding field and with an established treatment relationship with the student.
