Credit Hours 4Basic principles of electrical systems of diesel powered equipment with emphasis on starters, alternators, and batteries.
DEMR-1410: Diesel Engine Testing and Repair I
Credit Hours 4An introduction to testing and repairing diesel engines including related systems specialized tools.
Prerequisites: DEMR-1405, with a grade of C or higher.
DEMR-1416: Basic Hydraulics
Credit Hours 4Fundamentals of hydraulics including components and related systems.
Prerequisites: DEMR-1405, with a grade of C or higher.
DEMR-1417: Basic Brake Systems
Credit Hours 4Basic principles of brake systems of diesel powered equipment. Emphasis on maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
Prerequisites: DEMR-1405, with a grade of C or higher.
DEMR-1423: Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning Troubleshooting and Repair
Credit Hours 4Introduction to heating, ventilation, and air conitioning theory, testing, and repair. Emphasis on refrigerant reclamation, safety procedures, specialized tools, and repairs.
DEMR-1447: Power Train II
Credit Hours 4Continuation of fundamentals and theory of power train systems. Emphasis on disassembly, inspection, and repair of power train components.
DEMR-1449: Diesel Engine II
Credit Hours 4An in-depth coverage of disassembly, repair, identification, evaluation, and reassembly of diesel engines.
Prerequisites: DEMR-2434.
DEMR-2434: Advanced Diesel Tune-Up and Troubleshooting
Credit Hours 4Advanced concepts and skills required for tune-up and troubleshooting procedures of diesel engines. Emphasis on the science of diagnostics with a common sense approach.
Prerequisites: DEMR-1410.
DEMR-2488: Internship - Diesel Mechanics Technology/Technician
Credit Hours 4A work-based learning experience that enables the student to apply specialized occupational theory, skills and concepts. A learning plan is developed by the college and employer.
Prerequisites: Department approval required.
