Information pertaining to CTC’s Academic Standing Policy is in the College Catalog.

Academic Good Standing

Good Standing is when a student’s cumulative GPA remains at or above a 2.0.

Unsatisfactory Progress

Students who fail to earn a 2.0 GPA during their initial seven (7) semester hours will be notified of their Unsatisfactory Academic Progress by email (EagleMail). Students will be directed to appropriate support services available to help them.

Academic Probation

If a student’s overall GPA falls below 2.0 after their first seven (7) semester hours they will be placed on Academic Probation. Students are notified via EagleMail and must complete a Probation Agreement with their advising office prior to their next enrollment and are provided student support services.

Academic Suspension

If a student fails to earn a 2.0 GPA during their semester of probation and whose overall GPA is less than 2.0 will be placed on Academic Suspension. Students are suspended for one (1) long semester or both summer semesters. Students can appeal an Academic Suspension by submitting an appeal and working with a Success Coach. If the appeal is approved, students must comply with expectations and instructions established by the Success Coach.

Academic Dismissal

A student who does not earn a 2.0 GPA during an approved appeal of suspension or who returns after a semester of suspension and does not earn a 2.0 GPA will be placed on Academic Dismissal.
